New Zealand-based coffee roaster Ozone Coffee has opened its second London venue in October, a roastery and all-day eatery in an East London warehouse.
Ozone began 21 years ago in New Plymouth, and opened its first roastery in the United Kingdom in 2012. Inspired by the idea of respect and love for Papatuanuku, Earth Mother, Ozone’s food menus focus on sustainable, whole-cycle cooking and dishes that “nourish without compromising on flavour”.
Executive Chef Joe O’Connell prepares seasonal dishes with a focus on sustainability and are served in the open plan space designed by London’s Box 9 Design.
Box 9 has created custom tables and bench seating to complement the bright and airy aesthetic of the roastery. With space inside for 100 covers, it is designed to function for casual brunches as it does for nomadic workers. “Designed for the bruncher, first dater, creative worker, family catchup-er, meeting shaker, dog walker, holidaymaker, local morning walker or all the above, our new space is for everyone,” says Ozone on its website.
The Studio used plywood to add warmth, covering walls and floors, and also forming the seating booths, while tables are decorated with dried flower arrangements by artist Fran Newman Day.
